Lord Jesus Christ, Our Hope

Jesus — Jehovah saves; Christ — the Anointed One

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 1 Timothy 1:1–2

Paul is Christ's apostle. He calls Jesus Christ "our hope" because every hope of salvation rests on Him.

Christ Jesus Our Lord Who Enabled Me

Jesus — Jehovah saves; Christ — the Anointed One

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 1 Timothy 1:12

Paul thanks Christ for giving him strength and calling him into the ministry, even after his past as a persecutor.

Abundant Grace of Our Lord

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:14

Christ's grace was more than enough to cover Paul's past sins and change him.

Christ Jesus Came to Save Sinners

Jesus — Jehovah saves; Christ — the Anointed One

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1:15

This "faithful saying" is the heart of the gospel: Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and Paul counts himself the worst of them.

Christ's Longsuffering; Believe on Him

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 1 Timothy 1:16

Christ's patience with Paul is an example for everyone. If He could save Paul, He can save anyone who believes on Him.

King Eternal

King eternal — the everlasting King

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:17

Paul breaks into praise right after describing Christ's mercy. The "King eternal" may be the Father or may include the Son, whose kingdom has no end.
