Atonement (God's means to bring back the banished)
For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him. 2 Samuel 14:14
All people die and, like spilled water, cannot gather themselves back up; sin also banishes us from God. Yet God has 'devised means' so His banished children are not cut off forever, which Latter-day Saints recognize as the plan of redemption made possible through Jesus Christ's Atonement and Resurrection.
