Messiah

Messiah — the Anointed One (Hebrew; Greek Christ)

Upon you my fellow servants, in the name of Messiah I confer the Priesthood of Aaron, which holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; and this shall never be taken again from the earth, until the sons of Levi do offer again an offering unto the Lord in righteousness. Doctrine and Covenants 13:1

John the Baptist, who once prepared the way for Jesus, restores priesthood authority by acting in the name of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. All priesthood is exercised in His name.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

• a parallel account in Joseph Smith—History 1:68-69 — the same ordination and words
• the same title in John 1:41 — We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ

John quotes Malachi's prophecy about the Lord who comes suddenly to His temple and purifies the sons of Levi so they offer in righteousness.
