Exodus 22

Jehovah the Gracious

For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious. Exodus 22:27

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, promises to hear the poor man who cries to Him because He is gracious. It shows the same compassion Jesus showed the poor in His mortal ministry.

The Firstborn given to God

Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. Exodus 22:29–30

Israel's firstborn sons, and the firstborn of their flocks and herds, belong to God. Jesus, the Firstborn, was presented at the temple under this law of the firstborn and was wholly given to His Father.
