Exodus 31

Jehovah, the LORD that Sanctifies

Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Exodus 31:13

Jehovah gives the sabbath as a sign that He is the one who makes His people holy. Latter-day Saints know Him as Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath, through whose grace we are sanctified.

Creation by Christ

It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. Exodus 31:17

The sabbath remembers that the LORD created heaven and earth. Restoration scripture teaches that Jesus Christ, under the Father, is that Creator.

Jehovah, Giver of the Law

And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exodus 31:18

The God who spoke with Moses on Sinai and wrote the law was Jehovah. When the resurrected Jesus visited the Nephites, He declared that He was the one who gave the law.
