Saviour

Saviour — the One who delivers and rescues

Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me. Hosea 13:4

Jehovah declares that there is no Saviour besides Him. Latter-day Saints understand Jehovah to be Jesus Christ, so this is the premortal Savior announcing Himself.

Jehovah, King and Helper

Jehovah — the LORD, the eternal I AM

O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. Hosea 13:9–10

Israel ruined itself, but its only help is in Jehovah, who offers to be their King and asks where any other savior could be found.

Victory over Death and the Grave

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. Hosea 13:14

Jehovah promises to ransom His people from the grave and destroy death itself. Paul quotes this as fulfilled through Jesus Christ's Resurrection: "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"
