Isaiah 46

The God Who Carries His People

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: Isaiah 46:3–4

Idols have to be carried, but Jehovah carries his people all their lives. The Redeemer who bears and delivers Israel later carried our sins and sorrows through his Atonement.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

• the same title in Isaiah 63:9 — "The angel of his presence saved them ... he bare them, and carried them all the days of old."
• alluded to by Isaiah 53:4 — "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows."

Jehovah

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah 46:9–10

Jehovah knows the end from the beginning, and his purposes will stand. The speaker is the premortal Christ.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

• alluded to by Abraham 2:8 — "I know the end from the beginning."

Salvation Placed in Zion

I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory. Isaiah 46:13

God promises his salvation will come soon and be placed in Zion. When Simeon held the baby Jesus in the temple, he said he had seen God's salvation.
