Jehovah

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them? Judges 1:1–2

Israel asks Jehovah who should lead, and He answers in His own voice: Judah. There is quiet fitness in Judah going first - it is the tribe from which Jesus Christ would be born.

Judah's success is credited to Jehovah's presence, not to Judah's strength - and where the tribe trusted chariots of iron more than Him, the advance stopped.

The same testimony is given of the house of Joseph: the LORD was with them. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, is the reason any of these tribes prevailed.
