The LORD my Shepherd

Shepherd — the one who feeds, leads, and protects the flock

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23:1–3

Jehovah is the Shepherd who feeds, leads, and restores His sheep. Jesus declared, I am the good shepherd, identifying Himself as this LORD.

• the same title in John 10:11 — I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
• the same title in Alma 5:38 — The good shepherd doth call you... in his own name, which is the name of Christ.
• alludes to Revelation 7:17 — The Lamb... shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters.
• the same title in Isaiah 40:11 — He shall feed his flock like a shepherd.

With us through the valley of death

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4

The Shepherd walks with His sheep even through death. Because Christ went through death and conquered it, His followers need not fear it.
