Jeremiah
The verses in Jeremiah that became songs, with the songs they became.
Jeremiah 17:7–8 compares the one who trusts in the Lord to a tree planted by the waters, sending out its roots by the river, unafraid when the heat comes. “What I Water Grows” takes that image and the science of how trees grow — roots reaching down, branches reaching for the light — and asks what we are feeding in our own souls.
Jeremiah 17:7–8
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
