Matthew
The verses in Matthew that became songs, with the songs they became.
Two of the Savior’s teachings in Matthew became songs here. His invitation in Matthew 11:28–30 — “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” — answers the questions in “Why Do I Wander.” His words that “the tree is known by his fruit” (Matthew 12:33) help shape “What I Water Grows.”
Matthew 11:28–30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 12:33
33Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
