Jehovah

Jehovah — the covenant God, the premortal Jesus Christ

Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear. 2 Chronicles 24:19–20

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, keeps sending prophets to call His people back. Zechariah speaks His words by the Spirit, 'Thus saith God.'

The rejected and slain messenger

And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD. 2 Chronicles 24:21–22

Jesus Himself pointed to this murder 'between the temple and the altar' when He warned the leaders who would reject Him. In the Savior's parable of the vineyard, the servants are beaten and stoned before the Son is killed. Zechariah's dying cry for justice also contrasts with Christ's 'Father, forgive them.'
