Mercy Seat

And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims: 2 Chronicles 5:7–10

The ark, covered by its lid (the mercy seat) and the cherubims' wings, was where Jehovah promised to meet His covenant people. It points to Christ, the one through whom mercy is given and God is met; the covenant God who brought Israel out of Egypt is Jehovah.

It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 2 Chronicles 5:13–14

Jehovah accepts His house by filling it with the cloud of His glory, as He did the tabernacle in Moses' day. The One whose mercy 'endureth for ever' and whose glory fills the temple is the premortal Christ.
