2 Corinthians 2

Christ

To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; 2 Corinthians 2:10

Paul forgives the repentant man as Christ's representative, as if in Christ's presence. Forgiving others follows the Savior's own forgiveness.

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, 2 Corinthians 2:12

Triumph in Christ; sweet savour of Christ

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14–16

Paul pictures Christ leading a victory parade with His servants spreading His fragrance everywhere. "Sweet savour" is the language of sacrifices offered to the Lord, and Christ's own offering is the sweet savour that makes His servants acceptable to God.

Christ
