Jehovah

LORD (Jehovah) — the covenant name, "I AM" / He who is

And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire. 2 Kings 25:9

The temple destroyed here was the house of the LORD, Jehovah, who is the premortal Jesus Christ. Its fall shows what happens when a covenant people rejects the God who dwelt among them (the same house is named again in verses 13 and 16).

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

• interpreted by D&C 110:1-4 — Jehovah appears in His house and identifies Himself as the one who was slain and lives, showing the LORD of the temple is Christ.

And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison; 2 Kings 25:27–30

Even in captivity, the heir of David is kept alive and lifted up. Jehoiachin (Jechonias) is named in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus, so this quiet ending keeps the promised line to the Messiah unbroken.
