Son of God

Also the blazing throne of God, whereon was seated the Father and the Son. Doctrine and Covenants 137:3

Joseph sees the Son seated with the Father on God's throne in the celestial kingdom — two distinct, glorified Beings, as in the First Vision.

Judgment

Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God; Doctrine and Covenants 137:7–9

The Lord explains why Alvin is in the celestial kingdom: He judges by works and by the desires of the heart. Christ is that merciful Judge, who makes a way for those who never had the chance to hear the gospel.
