Exodus 26

The Tabernacle

And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount. Exodus 26:30

The tabernacle was built after a heavenly pattern shown to Moses. It was the place where God dwelt among His people, and Christ is the greater tabernacle in whom God came to dwell among men.

The Veil of the Tabernacle

And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: Exodus 26:31–33

The veil separated people from the presence of God in the most holy place. Hebrews teaches that the veil stands for Christ's flesh; when He died the temple veil tore, opening the way back into God's presence through Him.

Mercy Seat

And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place. Exodus 26:34

The mercy seat was the lid of the ark where atoning blood was sprinkled on the Day of Atonement. It points to Jesus Christ, whose atoning blood is the true place where mercy meets justice.
