Ezekiel 33

Jehovah

Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 33:11

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, swears by His own life that He wants no one to die spiritually but longs for every sinner to turn and live. It shows the heart of the Savior who later came to call sinners to repentance.

Forgiveness through repentance

Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; Ezekiel 33:14–16

The LORD promises that a truly repentant person's past sins will not even be mentioned again. Latter-day Saints understand this complete forgiveness as possible only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, who in our day says He remembers repented sins no more.
