Doctrine and Covenants 58

Learn of Him

Hearken, O ye elders of my church, and give ear to my word, and learn of me what I will concerning you, and also concerning this land unto which I have sent you. Doctrine and Covenants 58:1

The Savior invites the elders to learn of Him, the same invitation He gave in His mortal ministry.

The Lamb (marriage supper of the Lamb)

Lamb — the sacrificial Lamb of God, Jesus Christ

And also that a feast of fat things might be prepared for the poor; yea, a feast of fat things, of wine on the lees well refined, that the earth may know that the mouths of the prophets shall not fail; Doctrine and Covenants 58:8–11

Zion prepares a feast to which all nations are invited, and the poor and afflicted will come to the marriage of the Lamb. Christ, the Lamb, is the Bridegroom whose wedding feast celebrates His union with His faithful people.

He whose right it is to reign

Wherefore, be subject to the powers that be, until he reigns whose right it is to reign, and subdues all enemies under his feet. Doctrine and Covenants 58:22

"He whose right it is to reign" is Jesus Christ, the rightful King. The Saints obey earthly law until He comes to rule and puts every enemy under His feet.

Creator of man

Who am I that made man, saith the Lord, that will hold him guiltless that obeys not my commandments? Doctrine and Covenants 58:30

The Lord speaking is the One who made man. Latter-day Saints understand that Jesus Christ created the earth and mankind under the Father's direction.

Forgiveness through Christ

Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more. Doctrine and Covenants 58:42

Because of His Atonement, the Savior forgives those who repent and does not hold their sins against them anymore.

Echo of the risen Lord's commission

For, verily, the sound must go forth from this place into all the world, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth—the gospel must be preached unto every creature, with signs following them that believe. Doctrine and Covenants 58:64

The Lord renews the charge He gave His apostles after His Resurrection: take the gospel to everyone, with signs following believers.

Son of Man

Son of Man — Son of Man of Holiness, the Son of God the Father

And behold the Son of Man cometh. Amen. Doctrine and Covenants 58:65

The revelation ends by announcing that Jesus, the Son of Man, is coming again. Everything about building Zion prepares for His return.
