Ezra 7

Jehovah, Giver of the Law

This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him. Ezra 7:6–10

The law Ezra studied, lived, and taught was given by Jehovah, who is the premortal Jesus Christ. The resurrected Savior told the Nephites, "I am he that gave the law." So Ezra's lifelong seeking of the law was really a seeking of Christ.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem: Ezra 7:27–28

Ezra praises Jehovah, the God of his fathers, for moving a pagan king's heart and for strengthening him. The hand of the LORD that rests on His servant is the hand of the premortal Christ.
