Joseph as a type of Christ

But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: Genesis 40:14–15

Joseph suffers imprisonment though he has done nothing wrong, like the Savior who was condemned without fault. His plea to be remembered is the reverse of the thief's plea to Jesus, 'Lord, remember me.'

Joseph as a type of Christ

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. Genesis 40:19–22

Joseph is counted among two prisoners: on the third day one is restored and one is hanged on a tree. Christians have long seen in this the Savior crucified between two malefactors, one of whom was promised paradise, and the third day on which He was raised.
