Jeremiah 4

The nations blessed in Him

If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove. Jeremiah 4:1–2

If Israel returns to the Lord in truth, the nations will be blessed and find their glory in Him. This echoes the covenant with Abraham that all nations would be blessed through his seed, which Paul identifies as Christ.

Circumcision of the heart

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Jeremiah 4:4

The Lord asks for more than an outward rite: He wants a changed heart. In Christ the outward law of circumcision is done away, and the mighty change of heart He works in us is what the old ordinance pointed to.
