Lord of Hosts

Lord of Hosts — Jehovah, commander of the armies of heaven

As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come. Jeremiah 46:18

The true King over the nations is Jehovah, the LORD of hosts. Latter-day Saints understand Jehovah to be the premortal Jesus Christ, who is King over every earthly Pharaoh.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

• the same title in Jeremiah 48:15 — Same royal title spoken over Moab.
• the same title in Jeremiah 51:57 — Same royal title spoken over Babylon.

Jehovah

But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. Jeremiah 46:27–28

In the middle of judgment on Egypt, Jehovah speaks tenderly to Israel: He will save and gather them and stay with them. This is the premortal Christ's covenant faithfulness to His scattered people.

How we know: the verse itself names Him
