And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. Jeremiah 52:2–3
The LORD here is Jehovah, the premortal Jesus Christ, whose presence Judah lost through rebellion. The exile is His covenant warning coming true.

And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison, Jeremiah 52:31–34
The book ends with a captive son of David brought out of prison, given new clothing, and fed at the king's table. It softly pictures what the Redeemer does for captives: freedom, new garments, and a place at His table.
