Micah 3

Jehovah

LORD (Jehovah) — the eternal I AM, the covenant God of Israel

Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. Micah 3:4

Leaders who crushed the poor will cry to the LORD and find He has hidden His face. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, will not be used as a safety net by those who refuse to repent.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

Emmanuel — God with us

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. Micah 3:11

Corrupt leaders boast that the LORD is among them, so nothing bad can happen. The promise of God with His people is real — fulfilled in Jesus, Emmanuel — but it cannot be claimed by those who reject His ways.
