Jehovah

Jehovah (LORD) — the covenant name, 'I AM'; the premortal Christ

God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. Nahum 1:2–6

Nahum describes the majesty of Jehovah, before whom mountains quake and melt. Latter-day Saint scripture uses the same kind of imagery for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, when the earth will tremble at His presence.

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum 1:7

The same Jehovah who judges Nineveh is a safe fortress for those who trust Him, and He knows each of them personally, as the Good Shepherd knows His sheep.

Redeemer

Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. Nahum 1:12–13

Jehovah speaks, promising to break the yoke of Assyria and burst Judah's chains. Freeing captives is the work of the Redeemer, who breaks the bonds of sin and death.

He That Publisheth Peace

Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off. Nahum 1:15

Nahum announces a messenger of good news and peace to Judah. The same words appear in Isaiah 52:7, which Abinadi explains refers to the prophets who publish peace and above all to the Lord Himself, 'the founder of peace,' who redeemed His people.
