The meeting place before the testimony

And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. Numbers 17:4

Jehovah speaks of the place before the ark where He meets with His people, the mercy seat. That meeting place foreshadows Christ, through whom God and man meet.

Aaron's rod that budded

And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. Numbers 17:5–10

A dead stick comes to life overnight to show whom God has chosen as high priest. Christians have long seen in it the chosen High Priest, Jesus Christ, who came forth alive from death; the rod was laid up in the ark as a lasting witness.
