Numbers 16

The high priest chosen of God

And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. Numbers 16:5–7

No one can take the priesthood to himself; the Lord chooses who draws near to Him. Hebrews teaches that Christ, like Aaron, did not glorify Himself to become High Priest but was called by the Father.

Jehovah

Jehovah -- 'I AM', the covenant God of Israel

And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation. Numbers 16:19

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, shows His glory to the whole congregation as Korah gathers them against Moses and Aaron.

Jehovah

And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. Numbers 16:42

When the congregation murmurs again, the cloud covers the tabernacle and Jehovah's glory appears, the same presence that dwelt with Israel through the wilderness.

Aaron standing between the dead and the living

And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. Numbers 16:46–48

The high priest runs into the plague with incense, makes an atonement, and stands between the dead and the living until death stops. This is a vivid picture of Jesus Christ, the great Mediator, who stands between us and death and intercedes so we may live.
