Atonement (priestly intercession)
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Numbers 25:10–13
Jehovah speaks and honors Phinehas, a priest who stopped the plague and "made an atonement" so the people were not destroyed. His reward is a covenant of peace and an everlasting priesthood. This softly points to Jesus Christ, the great High Priest whose Atonement turns away justice from us and brings lasting peace.
