Psalms 107

Redeemer

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalms 107:1–3

Jehovah is the one who redeems and gathers His people. Latter-day Saints know Him as Jesus Christ, the Redeemer who gathers Israel.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

Bread of Life

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psalms 107:9

The LORD who fills the hungry soul is the same Jesus who called Himself the bread of life. Mary sang nearly these words while carrying Him.

Deliverer from darkness and bands

Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Psalms 107:10–16

Jehovah frees prisoners sitting in the shadow of death and breaks their bands. Zacharias used this very picture for the coming of Christ, who breaks the bands of death and hell.

The Word

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalms 107:20

God sends His word and it heals. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and He healed by simply speaking.

Jehovah, Master of the storm

For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. Psalms 107:25–30

Only the LORD commands wind and waves here. When Jesus stilled the storm on Galilee, His disciples asked what manner of man this was, because He was doing what this psalm says only Jehovah does.
