I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Psalms 116:1–4

Caught by the sorrows of death, the psalmist calls on Jehovah's name to save his soul. That Deliverer is the premortal Christ.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. Psalms 116:8

Being rescued from death and from tears echoes what Christ does for all through His Resurrection, when God wipes away all tears.

The cup of salvation, sung at Passover, echoes the sacrament cup Jesus blessed that night as a token of His blood shed for us.
