The LORD my Light and Salvation

Light — the one who dispels darkness and shows the way

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1

David calls the LORD his light and salvation, so he has nothing to fear. Jesus, the premortal Jehovah, declared I am the light of the world.

Set upon a rock

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. Psalms 27:4–5

David wants to behold the LORD in His temple and be set safely on a rock. Those who build on Christ, the rock, cannot be overthrown.

Seek ye my face

Jehovah — the LORD, the covenant name of the premortal Christ

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Psalms 27:8

The LORD invites, Seek ye my face, and David answers that he will. The Lord repeats the promise in modern revelation to those who come unto Him.
