Revelation 11

Jesus Christ

And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. Revelation 11:3

The angel speaks in the Lord's own voice ('my two witnesses'). The witnesses are His prophets, who testify of Him in Jerusalem before His coming.

Crucifixion

And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. Revelation 11:8

John names the city as the place where 'our Lord' was crucified, Jerusalem. The same city that rejected the Savior will reject His last-day witnesses.

Resurrection

And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. Revelation 11:11–12

The witnesses are killed, lie dead about three days, rise, and go up to heaven in a cloud while their enemies watch. Their story follows the pattern of the Savior's death, Resurrection on the third day, and Ascension in a cloud.

Christ

Christ — the Anointed One (Greek for Messiah)

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 11:15

At the seventh trumpet heaven announces that every earthly kingdom now belongs to the Father and to His Anointed, Jesus Christ, who will reign forever. This is the promise of His millennial and eternal reign.

Jehovah

Jehovah — 'He who is,' the Eternal One; rendered here 'which art, and wast, and art to come'

Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. Revelation 11:17–18

The elders praise the LORD who always was, is, and will be, a Greek way of expressing the divine name I AM. Revelation 1:8 gives the same title to the Alpha and Omega, whom Latter-day Saints know as Christ, and He is the judge of the dead.

Mercy Seat

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. Revelation 11:19

The ark of the covenant, whose lid was the mercy seat sprinkled with atoning blood, is seen in the heavenly temple. The ark pointed to Christ, through whom God meets His people in mercy.
