The Lamb Opens the Seals

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. Revelation 6:1

Only Christ, the Lamb, is worthy to open the seals of God's book. He is the 'he' who opens each following seal in verses 3, 5, 7, 9, and 12, so all of history unfolds under His hand.

  • interpreted by D&C 77:7 — the first seal contains the things of the first thousand years, and so on

Rider on the White Horse (possible)

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Revelation 6:2

Some readers see Christ or His conquering gospel in this crowned rider because Christ rides a white horse in chapter 19. The identification is uncertain, and D&C 77 ties the first seal to the first thousand years rather than naming the rider.

Lord, Holy and True

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Revelation 6:10

The martyrs appeal to the Lord as 'holy and true', the same words Christ used of Himself to Philadelphia. The judge they call on may be the Father or the Son.

Great Day of the Wrath of the Lamb

And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: Revelation 6:16–17

At His coming, the gentle Lamb is also the judge. The unrepentant try to hide from Him, just as Isaiah and Malachi foretold of the day of the LORD.
