The Story
This song comes from a dream I had as a missionary that is a miracle. It was a gift. It was centerpiece the Lord places on two years of service as a missionary for His church.
This song is seated in doctrine taught by modern day prophets. It can be found in the Doctrine & Covenants, one of the standard works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But this dream I'm about to share was one of those vivid experiences that when you wake up, you almost don't know where you are because it just felt so real.
And so it is. Read on to understand what I believe. Even if you don't believe this doctrine, focus on the emphasis of Jesus Christ as the Redeemer of ALL mankind. Both living and those who have passed.
I was standing on a shoreline. A forest behind me. Mountains surrounding a still bay. The water was perfectly flat. Then a crown of light broke the horizon and thousands of souls ran across the surface of the water, passing me with overwhelming energy.
I understood what I was seeing. The resurrection.
I was pulled into the forest and saw people gathered along a path. Some were vibrant and full of color. Others were frozen in grayscale. Those filled with light spoke to those trapped in stillness. Slowly, color returned. Countenance changed. Acceptance replaced confusion.
I knew where I was. Paradise and prison. Souls finally hearing truth. Christ teaching those who never had the chance.
This dream came around the time my grandmother passed away. She had always said she would be a missionary after death. This vision gave me peace about where she was and what she was doing.
The lyrics follow that experience closely. Chains falling. Captives hearing His voice. Light returning where hope had been absent.
This song is a witness of doctrine and of love. Christ reaches everyone willing to receive Him. Grace does not expire. Redemption is patient.
