Peace under the vine and fig tree

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. 1 Kings 4:24–25

Under Solomon, whose name means peaceable, everyone lived in safety under his own vine and fig tree. Micah and Zechariah use this same picture for the peace of the Messiah's reign, so Solomon's peaceful kingdom previews Christ's millennial reign.

People and kings from every nation came to hear the God-given wisdom of David's son. It foreshadows how all nations will come to Jesus Christ, the greater Son of David, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom.
