Apostolic Witness of Christ's Sufferings

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 1 Peter 5:1

Peter was an eyewitness of Christ's suffering and will share in His glory. His testimony is personal: he was there.

The Good Shepherd's Charge

Peter passes on the charge the risen Jesus gave him by the Sea of Galilee: 'Feed my sheep.' The flock belongs to God, and leaders serve as under-shepherds for Christ.

Chief Shepherd

Chief Shepherd — the Shepherd over all shepherds

And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 1 Peter 5:4

Jesus is the chief Shepherd over all who lead His flock; when He appears again He will reward faithful servants with a crown of glory that never fades.
