Hebrews 13

I will never leave thee

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5–6

Jehovah promised Joshua and Israel He would never forsake them, and the psalmist called the LORD his helper. That same promise belongs to disciples of Christ now.

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever

Sin offering burned without the camp

We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. Hebrews 13:10–12

On the Day of Atonement the bodies of the sin offerings were burned outside the camp. The text says Jesus fulfilled this by suffering outside Jerusalem's gate to sanctify His people with His own blood.

The Great Shepherd of the sheep

Great Shepherd — the one who leads, feeds, and lays down His life for the flock

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Hebrews 13:20

Jesus is the Great Shepherd who gave His blood to seal the everlasting covenant and still cares for His flock.
