Grace (kindness of the King)
And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. 2 Samuel 9:3–13
Mephibosheth is lame, from a fallen house, and calls himself a 'dead dog,' yet the king restores him and treats him as a son at his table because of a covenant with Jonathan. It pictures how the Son of David receives the unworthy, restores their inheritance, and makes them His sons and daughters through covenant.

How we know: the verse itself names Him
