Deuteronomy 12

The place of His Name (temple)

But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: Deuteronomy 12:5–7

Israel could offer sacrifice only where the Lord put His name, which later became the temple. Jesus called His own body the temple, and all sacrifice and worship lead to Him. Verse 11 repeats the command.

Sacrifice as a similitude of Christ

Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Deuteronomy 12:23–27

Blood stands for life, and sacrificial blood belonged on the altar. Shed blood on the altar pointed to Christ, whose life-blood was poured out for our sins. Adam was taught that sacrifice is a likeness of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten.
