Exodus 28

High Priest

And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons. Exodus 28:1

Aaron was called of God to stand between the people and God as high priest. Hebrews teaches that Christ was likewise called of God and is our great High Priest, though after the higher order of Melchizedek.

High Priest

And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial. Exodus 28:12

The high priest carried the names of every tribe on his shoulders into God's presence. Christ carries His people on His shoulders and remembers each of them by name before the Father.

High Priest

And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually. Exodus 28:29–30

Aaron went before the LORD with Israel's names over his heart. Jesus Christ, our Advocate, holds His people in His heart and pleads for them before the Father continually.

His Name Upon His Servants

And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD. Exodus 28:36

The high priest wore the LORD's name on his forehead, marking him as belonging wholly to Jehovah. The same words later mark Latter-day Saint temples, and the faithful are promised to bear Christ's name in their foreheads.

High Priest

And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD. Exodus 28:38

The high priest bore the iniquity even of Israel's imperfect offerings so the people could be accepted by God. This foreshadows Christ, who bore our iniquities so that we can be accepted before the Father through Him.
