Ezekiel 11

Jehovah

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. Ezekiel 11:16

The people in Jerusalem thought the exiles were cut off from God because they were far from the temple. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, promises to be their sanctuary Himself wherever they are scattered: His presence, not a building, is what makes a holy place.

Atonement

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. Ezekiel 11:17–20

The Lord promises to gather scattered Israel and change their hearts from stone to flesh, so they will keep His covenant as His people. The Book of Mormon teaches that this mighty change of heart comes through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, which makes us His spiritual children.

Jehovah

Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. Ezekiel 11:22–23

The glory of Jehovah leaves Jerusalem and pauses on the mountain east of the city, the Mount of Olives. That is the same mountain where Jesus prayed and wept over Jerusalem, where He ascended to heaven, and where scripture says His feet will stand when He returns.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)
