True Vine

Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest? Ezekiel 15:2–6

Israel was meant to be the Lord's fruitful vine, but a vine without fruit is good for nothing except the fire. Jesus picks up this image when He calls Himself the true vine: branches that abide in Him bear fruit, and those that do not are gathered and burned.
