Jehovah (LORD) — "I AM", the covenant God of Israel
And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth. Ezekiel 7:9
Jehovah, the premortal Christ, names Himself as the One who judges and smites a people who have rejected Him. The same self-declaration closes vv4 and 27: through these events Israel will learn who their God truly is.
