Ezekiel 8

Jehovah

Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber. Ezekiel 8:2–4

Ezekiel sees a glorious being in the likeness of a man, blazing with fire and brightness: the same figure on the throne in Ezekiel 1, "the glory of the God of Israel". Latter-day Saints understand the God of Israel as Jehovah, the premortal Christ; the description of fiery glory is echoed when John and Joseph Smith saw the glorified Savior.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

• the same event in Ezekiel 1:26-28 — The same vision of the likeness of a man in fire and amber above the throne; v4 says "according to the vision that I saw".
• alluded to by Revelation 1:13-15 — John sees one like the Son of man with eyes as a flame of fire and feet like fine brass burning in a furnace.
• alluded to by D&C 110:2-3 — The resurrected Lord appears in the Kirtland Temple with eyes as a flame of fire and countenance brighter than the sun.

Jehovah

He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations. Ezekiel 8:6

Jehovah calls the temple "my sanctuary" and warns that Israel's sins are driving Him away from His own house. This sets up chapters 9-11, where His glory leaves the temple step by step.
