Jehovah

Jehovah — the unchangeable One, the eternal I AM (rendered LORD)

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: Genesis 12:1–4

Jehovah calls Abram to leave everything and follow Him. In the Book of Abraham the Lord who gives this call says, 'My name is Jehovah.'

Seed of Abraham

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:2–3

The promise that all families would be blessed through Abraham is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, Abraham's descendant, whose gospel blesses every nation. Paul calls this the gospel preached beforehand to Abraham, and the risen Lord taught that the Father raised Him up to bring this blessing.

Jehovah

And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. Genesis 12:7

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, appears to Abram and promises the land to his descendants.

Abram builds an altar and worships Jehovah by calling on His name, as the righteous had since the days of Enos (Genesis 4:26).
