Joseph as a type of Christ

Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. Genesis 45:1–4

The brother they rejected and sold reveals himself, and the brothers are overwhelmed. In the last days the Savior will show Himself to the Jews, who will ask about His wounds, learn He is the Jesus they rejected, and weep; Joseph revealed 'at the second time' is a pattern of that day.

Joseph as a type of Christ

Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. Genesis 45:5–8

The brothers meant harm when they sold Joseph, but God used it to send him ahead to save their lives. The rejection and death of Jesus, done by wicked hands, was part of the Father's plan to bring a great deliverance to all.

Joseph as a type of Christ

And he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck. Genesis 45:14–15

Joseph embraces and kisses the very brothers who betrayed him, holding nothing against them. Jesus forgave those who wronged Him and welcomes back those who come to Him.

Resurrection (report of the one thought dead)

And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not. Genesis 45:26–28

Jacob had mourned Joseph as dead for years; the news that he is alive and reigning is at first too good to believe, then revives him. The disciples likewise did not believe the report that the crucified Jesus was alive until the evidence came.
