Jehovah

Jehovah — the unchangeable One, the eternal I AM (rendered LORD)

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Genesis 6:3–8

Jehovah warns that His Spirit will not always strive with the wicked, yet one righteous man finds grace in His eyes. In the restored text it is Noah whose heart is pained at man's wickedness (Moses 8:25).

Noah's Ark

Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. Genesis 6:14–16

Peter calls the saving of Noah's family by water in the ark a 'figure' of baptism, which saves us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The ark had one door, and the Hebrew word for 'pitch' shares the root used for atonement (a covering), so safety was found only inside what God provided.

Jehovah

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. Genesis 6:17–18

The covenant God promises to save Noah's family through the ark. Jehovah, the God of covenants, is the premortal Christ.
