Sacrifice in Similitude of the Only Begotten
And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. Genesis 8:20–21
Noah's first act after the Flood was sacrifice, and Jehovah accepted it as a sweet savour and promised mercy to the earth. Paul uses the same words for Christ, who gave Himself as an offering and a sweet-smelling savour to God.
