Isaiah 37

LORD of hosts enthroned between the cherubim

Lord of Hosts — Jehovah Sabaoth, Lord of the armies of heaven

O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. Isaiah 37:16

Hezekiah prays to Jehovah, who sits enthroned above the mercy seat between the cherubim and who made heaven and earth. Restoration scripture teaches that Jehovah, the Creator, is Jesus Christ.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

Holy One of Israel

Holy One of Israel — the holy God who made covenants with Israel

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 37:23

The LORD tells Sennacherib that his mockery was aimed at the Holy One of Israel, the premortal Christ, not merely at Hezekiah.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

For my servant David's sake

For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake. Isaiah 37:35

Jehovah saves Jerusalem because of His covenant with David. That covenant promised David an everlasting throne, a promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the Son of David.

Angel of the LORD

Angel of the LORD — the messenger of Jehovah

Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. Isaiah 37:36

The angel of the LORD delivers Jerusalem in one night. In some Old Testament passages this title points to the premortal Christ. Here it most likely means a heavenly messenger carrying out Jehovah's word, so the reading is tentative.
